How do I become a member?
To become a member, please complete the membership form, Code of Conduct forms and pay the annual $20 membership fee. One membership per family regardless of the number of children (players participating). Annual membership are from April 1st – March 31st. Before a player starts training, the Player Code of Conduct and Parent Code of Conduct forms must be completed.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
Members are able to participate in all Asahi club training, teams, events and programs. You will receive all club e-mails and news. Members are given priority for registering for training clinics and teams. Player are insured through Baseball BC for all baseball related activities in BC provided by the Club.
What is the process for registration of training and programs?
Registration for all training and programs is done on a first come first serve basis, with the exception of the Winter Training where priority is given to players participating in Fall Training. Summer Training is usually at Keningston Park, Burnaby and Fall & Winter Training is at the Richmond Oval. Training is usually on Sunday afternoons.
Registration is done using a Google form. The link is provided to the all the members concurrently when registration is open. Generally, payment is required within 72 hours. Registrations without timely payment are removed and members are required to register again.
Please register each player separately. One payment can be made for more than one player.
Please register in the session in the age appropriate session. Registration in the incorrect sessions will be automatically removed from the list. We will be trying to accommodate as many players as possible. We reserve the right to cancel your registration by not accepting payment or refunding payment.
Does Asahi have a Spring league?
The Asahi Baseball Association provides training primarily during the off seasons. Players would return to their regular Baseball BC leagues during the Spring season.
How does the Club determine the divisions?
The Asahi Baseball Association uses calendar year to determine age. We use the birth year of the next Spring season to determine the divisions. As a rough guide: Bantam (grade 8 & 9), PeeWee (grade 6 & 7), Mosquito (grade 4 & 5) and Tadpole (grade 2 & 3).
Participating in a different division?
On occasion, the Coaching staff may ask players to move to a different division for various reasons, but not limited to: accommodating more players, player’s ability and safety. Parents request will be considered providing space permits.
Pro Rated Fees, Cancellations and Refund Policy
We do not pro-rate our membership fee or any of our training programs. Any cancellations 21 days prior to the 1st session will only be refunded if the spot can be filled. In the unfortunate event of an injury, the player can request a refund for the balance and if the spot can be filled, the Board can grant the refund. All cancellations and refunds are subject to a $40 administration fee.
What do I need to participate in Asahi training, teams and programs?
Each player will need to purchase an Asahi jersey ($35.-) and hat ($30.-). To participate on Asahi teams and Summer training, players require white baseball pants. For Fall and Winter Oval training, players can wear black shorts and running shoes.
Our Asahi jersey are the dry-fit and each player in an age group has a unique number. We have some printed jersey (sizes Youth or Adult / S, M. L or XL) with unassigned numbers.
Players must wear a jock or jill, bring a helmet, baseball glove, water and bat (if you have). Please arrive 10 - 15 minutes early with the player ready to start on-time.
NOTE: Please hang dry your jerseys.
Tournament Teams
The Asahi coaching staff is constantly observing and evaluating our players. All eligible players of current members in the Club will be notified and given the option whether they wish to be considered for the team. In assembling players to represent the Asahi Baseball Association, Coaches may select teams without a formal tryout. In these situations, Coaches will select players based on understanding of the Asahi spirit, respect, passion, team work, sportsmanship, ability and team needs (no specific order).
How can I get involved?
Please consider joining our Board. We are looking for 3 to 5 new board members or members-at-large who can help us shape the future of our club and help run our programs. The terms are 2 years and we meet approximately 10 times a year. We are seeking members who can represent different age groups so that we can better serve the needs of all members.
We currently have thirteen board members, but can accommodate up to 15 board members. We also have spots available on various committees. To find out more, please contact a Board member.
